Questo breve machinima è stato creato come progetto di fine anno sotto la supervisione dell’artista italiano Marco Mendeni, docente di New Media all’Accademia di Belle Arti a Venezia. I realizzatori hanno utilizzato Garry's Mod per creare una situazione poetica e surreale influenzata dal cinema di Federico Fellini. Il video esplora i molteplici significati dei termini “caduta” e “cadere”: dal sogno al declino. Qui, la poesia rappresenta l’unica possibile alternativa all’assurdità della vita quotidiana e all’abominevole “razionalità” del capitalismo: “Due piedi/ Nessun posto dove mettere/ Nel sogno/ Sto in silenzio/ Semplicemente, non voglio dirlo/ Gli altri mi mostrano la schiena/ La caduta”.
Created as a student project under the supervision of Italian artist Marco Mendeni at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, La caduta (The Fall) is a short machinima. The filmmakers used Garry’s Mod to create a poetic, surreal narrative influenced by Federico Fellini. The video explores the many meanings of the words “fall” and “falling”, from dreaming to declining. Poetry is presented as the only alternative to the absurdity of everyday life and the abominable, “rational” logic of capitalism. When asked about the project, the students responded in verse: “Two feet/ Nowhere to put/ In the dream/ I keep quiet/ ‘cause I just don’t want to say it/ Everyone’s back is facing me/ The fall”.

XUE Youge （薛 又 戈) è nato a Anyang, in Cina, e si è trasferito in Italia per studiare arte all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Ha partecipato alla Venice Art Night nel 2016 e nel 2018. HU Yu (胡 煜) è nato a Nanjing, in Cina e ha studiato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. La caduta è il loro primo machinima.
XUE Youge（薛又戈) was born in Anyang, China and moved to Italy to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. He participated in the Venice Art Night in 2016 and 2018.
